Music Selection

I looked through my Spotify and made a playlist of instrumental songs I liked. I then listened through my playlist with the adjectives I chose to describe Sloop Script and picked out the songs that I thought fit best. I ended up choosing between two songs by an artist named S. Maharba.

Both fit the adjectives well in my opinion. I picked S.I.T.W.S.M. because I felt like it would be easier to animate text to.

Planning

I decided to try to keep some of the themes from my spread and apply them to video. I wanted to use videos that added captured the same nautical themes. I found an account on Pexels called Life on Super 8 that had a lot of film footage of beaches, boats, water, etc. I then recolored these videos to match the color palettes I used in my spread. I changed the black to navy and white to light blue.

I printed off my script and then annotated it. I tried to plot out different parts of my script. I figured out what parts of the script would fit best with the music and mapped it out along a timeline.

Rather than iterating multiple videos I worked by drawing out and writing down what animations I envisioned on my final. Because of my lack of experience with After Effects I thought it would be best to leave animation for the end of the process so that I wouldn’t waste time making animations that wouldn’t be used in my final video.

As I worked I looked at kinetic type videos online and wrote down which effects I wanted to use on my video. Then later on, I watched tutorials and figured out how to do these animations on After Effects.
